MENANDS, N.Y. - Democrat Phil Steck voted Tuesday at the Menands Fire Department.
Steck, a candidate for the 110th District State Assembly seat, cast his ballot
Tuesday morning in one of the most historic elections in recent memory.
The 110th District encompasses Colonie, Niskayuna and the
eastern portion of Schenectady
County.
Steck is competing for the seat against Republican
challenger Jennifer Whalen, who cast her vote in Colonie. Steck says he is
confident about his chances of winning Tuesday's election, and stressed the
importance of everyone exercising their right to
vote.
"It's something all Americans have been afforded the
opportunity to do. Citizens in many countries aren't able to experience
democracy," Steck said. "It's up to all of us to get out there and vote. Unfortunately, in the
United States, the people who need representation the most, oftentimes do not
vote."
Steck will watch the results of Tuesday's election with
family and supporters at the Polish American Citizen Center in
Albany.
