NY groups to Cuomo: Order use of affidavit ballots

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Good-government groups are asking Gov. Andrew Cuomo to allow displaced voters to cast ballots by affidavit Tuesday at any polling site they can reach.
    
They seek an executive order that will allow voters to sign affidavits that they are legally registered and vote in the presidential and state races wherever they can reach an open polling site, even those outside their neighborhoods.
    
Cuomo has not yet responded.
    
New Jersey is allowing voters to use provisional ballots at any polling site.
    
Elections officials have been examining polling sites over the last few days to make sure as many as possible are open on Tuesday.
    
The groups urging Cuomo to act include Common Cause-New York and the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University Law School.
