ALBANY, N.Y. - The driver in a fatal hit-and-run accident that happened in November 2011 has been sentenced to sate prison Tuesday morning.
Albany County District Attorney David Soares says 20-year-old Alfred Zwack Jr. was sentenced to 3 1/3 to 10 years in state prison for the death of Etemowei James Oki on Nov. 26, 2011. He pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony, and one count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, a Class D Felony, on September 30.
In the early morning hours, Zwack recklessly caused the death of Oki when he drove at an excessive speed and over the double yellow lines on Quail Street in the City of Albany, striking Oki then fleeing the scene.
He then turned himself in to police two days later.
