COEYMANS, N.Y. - The emergency evacuation order for Miller and Kruger
Roads in the Town of Coeymans has been lifted and people may return to their
homes, the Coeymans Police Department announced Tuesday morning.
Coeymans Police Chief Gregory Darlington thanked the
public for their cooperation during the storm.
"While it turned out that there was no flooding the area of
Miller and Kruger Roads, the evacuation was necessary to ensure the safety of
first responders if there had been a problem," he said.
Emergency Officials
have also closed the shelter which had been opened at the RCS High School.
The
passage of the worst parts of Hurricane Sandy has left the Town and Village
with little damage and there is no need to keep the shelter open at this time.
An area of Coeymans along the Hudson River experienced flooding overnight;
however nobody needed the services of the shelter.
