North Adams works to clean up streets

Posted:

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Mayor Richard Alcombright and the Local Emergency Planning Committee is working to turn power on throughout the city and clean up the streets after Sandy's storm Monday night.

Residents are reminded to not park on city streets during clean up, and businesses are asked to stay closed to allow for street clean up as well.

Mayor Alcombright says the State of Emergency will remain in effect until all power is restored and major debris is cleared from roadways.

Power is currently out on all or portions of the following streets: Rock St., Pebble St., Furnace St., Francis St. and a small area on and around Notch Rd.

National Grid has mobilized crews and they are being deployed to the areas impacted.

The mayor says all city offices will open on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. to include City Hall, the Library and Mary Spitzer Center

Please report power outages and downed tree limbs that are blocking streets to the North Adams Ambulance Service at 413-664-4933.
