SARATOGA, N.Y. - Timothy Kaye was sentenced to eight years in prison on Monday, for the sexual molestation and kidnapping of a 15-year-old child from an Albany group home.
In the summer of 2011, Kaye and his co-defendant Eric Loeser, befriended a 15-year-old child that the two abducted from his home with the promise of a better life.
Over the course of the twenty-day investigation, police accused the defendants of hiding the boy from law enforcement officials who were actively looking for the boy.
Also over the period of the investigation, police say the men sexually molested the 15-year-old child repeatedly.
Members of the New York State Police, the United State Department of Homeland Security and the Saratoga County Sheriff's Department assisted in this multi-county, multi-state investigation.
On May 18th, Kaye, a former Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and Ballston Spa Police Dispatcher, pleaded guilty to Kidnapping 2nd-degree and Criminal Sex Act 3rd-degree.
Monday, October 29th, Kaye was sentenced to eight years in a state correctional facility along with five years of post-release supervision.
Kaye will also be required to register with the state's sex offender registry upon release from prison, and has been ordered to stay away from the victim.
Loeser will be sentenced in November for his guilty plea to this fact pattern and two other unrelated sex offenses.
