HUNTER, N.Y. - A Greene County man was killed after a fire tore through residence in the town of Hunder early Monday morning.
Calls were made around 6 a.m. reporting a structure fire at a small two-room bungalow located at 8 Joval Court according to Catskill State Police.
Upon arrival, Police and Fire Officials found heavy smoke and flames coming from within the bedroom. The owner and sole occupant, 59-year-old Paul Whitman, was found deceased inside of the home.
An autopsy is being conducted at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
The New York State Police and the Greene County Fire Investigation Team,
responded and conducted the scene investigation, which determined the fire was
caused by the improper use of smoking materials.
