Update: Albany International Airport advisories

Posted: Updated:

ALBANY, N.Y. - As the storm passes, the Albany International Airport says air service will resume on a very limited basis Tuesday morning.

Service is expected to resume at 11:40 a.m. but travelers should consult their airline or the airport's web site to determine the status of their flights. Check flight status here.

A total of 49 departing flights have been cancelled Tuesday. Cape Air and U.S. Airways will not resume operations until Wednesday.

The last plane got out around 3 p.m. Monday.

The Amtrak station remains closed Tuesday morning, cancelling all service on its northeast corridor. They plan to resume service Wednesday.

Amtrak made this decision ahead of Hurricane Sandy, citing high winds, heavy rains, along with emergency declarations in several states making travel difficult.

Albany International took precautions Monday to make sure scheduled flights got off the ground safely.

Airport officials met with the FAA, Sheriff's Deparment and Transportation Security Administration Monday to discuss the impacts of Hurricane Sandy.

Albany International Airport said they would not close and has enough generator power to last 40 hours and can be refueled.
