ALBANY, N.Y. - Friday night during the Albany Devils hockey game at the Times Union Center, the 6th annual "Cash for Coats" drive will be held.
Mayor Jerry Jennings, the City of Albany, and the Albany Devils hold the "Cash for Coats" drive as a community-based program designed to collect funds to purchase new winter clothing items for Albany elementary school children in need.
This year's "Cash for Coats" will take place at the Times Union Center Friday night.
People may also make cash donations of any size at the game, or at Albany City Hall, 24 Eagle Street in Albany, or Lodge's Department Store at 75 N. Pearl Street until November 1st.
Now in its sixth year, the "Cash for Coats" drive – formerly the "Mayor's Fall Drop Off" program – has distributed tens of thousands of new winter clothing items to Albany schoolchildren. Last year's drive alone resulted in over 4,000 new coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves.
Ticket information for the game is available at www.thealbanydevils.com.
