Man accused of beating girlfriend to death enters plea in court

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Mohawk Valley man accused of beating his girlfriend to death in her SUNY-Brockport dorm room last month chose to plead not guilty Thursday.

In court, 21-year-old Clayton Whittemore denied killing 18-year-old Alexandra Kogut, despite a sheriff's office report that claims Whittemore told authorities he beat Kogut with his fists and a curling iron, after snapping during a shoving match.

Whittemore is charged with 2nd-Degree murder.
