ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The city of Albany has ordered the owners of a party and concert venue to cease hosting parties after a recent event turned unruly, resulting in injuries to three police officers and seven arrests.
The city's code enforcement officers ordered a freeze on any parties at the Washington Avenue Armory, citing violations of a new law requiring most live entertainment to be licensed.
The move came after a crowd of about 2,000 showed up last Thursday night for a "foam party" at the venue. Police say some people became combative and fought with officers when they tried to disperse the crowd because of safety issues.
Armory officials say they're changing the venue's ticketing and entry policies in response to last week's incident.
