Governor Cuomo tours RPI in Troy on October 23, 2012
TROY, N.Y. - Tuesday at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Governor Andrew Cuomo took a first-hand look at how funds awarded by the Regional Economic Development Council are being put to use in the Capital Region.
Governor Cuomo and Lt. Governor Bob Duffy toured a medical research lab on the RPI campus Tuesday morning. The facility is benefitting from $950,000 to establish a regional initiative to create collaboration between RPI, University at Albany and Albany Medical Center.
On Tuesday there were also presentations on other local companies that received funding, such as Proctors Theater who is undergoing renovations thanks in part to the money received and representative from Windham Mountain talked about how the tourist attraction is benefitting from a $1.5 million award.
Governor Cuomo says these examples of collaboration, innovation and competition are accomplishing the goals of the Regional Economic Development Council.
