ALBANY, N.Y. – Monday's debate received tremendous response online, especially on Twitter and Facebook, where people instantly responded to what President Obama and Mitt Romney had to say.
With the focus of the debate on foreign policy, Obama and Romney went head to head on some big issues, including their stances on Libya, Syria and Iran's nuclear program.
When the two candidates began to debate on the size of the U.S. military, an immediate trend on twitter popped up, #horsesandbayonets, in reference to Romney's criticism of the size of the Navy, to which Obama responded, "We have fewer ships than we did in 1916, but we also have fewer horses and bayonets."
At one point during the debate, both Obama and Romney were neck and neck on Twitter, Romney had 286,139 tweet mentions while Obama had 263,548.
