
WATERVLIET, N.Y. – Police are investigating a domestic dispute that led to a slashing in Watervliet Sunday.
According to Watervliet Police, the incident occurred when a argument between a father and daughter turned physical.
The daughter allegedly grabbed a knife and slashed at her father's throat causing a severe laceration. During a struggle to subdue the daughter, she also suffered a serious laceration to her hand.
The victim, a 51-year-old male was transported to Albany Medical Center where he underwent two surgeries to repair his injuries. The daughter was treated at a local hospital for her injury and was charged and arraigned in Watervliet City Court and remanded to Albany County Jail.
She was charged with Assault 1st-Degree, a B Felony and Criminal Possession of a Weapon with intent to use, a Misdemeanor.
The victim remains hospitalized for observation and treatment and his prognosis is considered good.
The incident remains under investigation and no further information will be available at this time.
