ATHENS, N.Y. - A "pill party" at the Catskill Starlight Motel on Route 9-W in the town of Athens left two adults deceased and the other two hospitalized.
Greene County Sheriff Sean McCulloch reports that the four individuals bought numerous, varied pills and ingested them in several different ways together.
One man in his mid-twenties and one woman in her mid-thirties died as a result of these ingestions, and the other two participants, a male in his mid-twenties and woman in her mid-thirties, were hospitalized at Columbia Memorial Hospital and released.
The Catskill Starlight Motel is a standard, single-floor motel, with mostly single-occupancy rooms.
The four individuals that participated in the pill party had paid for the use of one of these single-occupancy rooms.
Sheriff McCulloch said that the drug problem in Greene County is "getting worse."
