BENNINGTON, Vt. - Police in Bennington say a tow truck was stolen from a gas station on Main Street some time Wednesday night.

Police say the All Service Citgo station reported their tow truck stolen Thursday morning.

Surveillance video shows the incident began around 10:50 p.m. when a blue and silver Ford Windstar van turned onto Dewey Street and pulled over to the curb. Police say a male suspect got out of the van and went to the driver's door of the tow truck, checked the door handle, then broke a window and entered the truck.

In less than a minute the suspect got the truck started and drove away, westbound on Main Street. The silver and blue minivan followed closely.

Police say there were no keys in the truck, and there were several thousand dollars worth of additional tools in the vehicle.

The truck is a 1996 black International with Vermont registration BMM834.

The video shows a couple of people walking by All Service Citgo in this time frame and are asking if they could call the Bennington Police. Anyone with additional information in this theft is asked to call Bennington Police at (802) 442-1030.
