TROY, N.Y. - The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society says Thursday the three kittens found abandoned in Troy last month are now healthy enough to be adopted.
On September 18th, a woman discovered three grey tiger kittens abandoned on the corner of Ida and Third Streets in Troy. A garbage bag, which was covering the laundry basket the kittens were in, did little to keep the rain off the frail kittens; they were soaked and shivering.
The good Samaritan then took the tiny kittens to the Troy Police Station and officers then brought them to the Humane Society for care.
The kittens were examined by veterinary staff and found to be malnourished, dehydrated and covered with fleas.
The three male kittens were treated and placed in a foster home where they thrived.
Now, less than a week later, Puddles, Thunder and Lightning were dry, fluffy and on the road to a healthy future.
"The kittens were so lucky to have been found by a woman with a very kind heart. They would not have made it on the streets in their condition. I'm sure the person who left them on the street corner in Troy was hoping someone would find them and do the right thing, but no animal should be abandoned. There are alternatives; people can surrender animals to us," said Brad Shear, Humane Society Executive Director.
"These kittens have been through a lot in their short lives but they are sweet, affectionate and playful. What they need now are good homes where they will be loved," Shear continued.
