ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Prosecutors say a Hudson Valley doctor has admitted illegally selling prescriptions for the painkiller hydrocodone.
U.S. Attorney Richard Hartunian says 63-year-old Dr. Wayne Longmore of Woodstock pleaded guilty Wednesday in Albany to a federal charge that he knowingly provided the drug without a legitimate medical reason from November 2011 to March.
Hartunian says Longmore charged people $60 in cash for seven-day prescriptions without doing full medical exams or taking medical histories.
Under the terms of a plea bargain, Longmore agreed to give up his medical license and to pay the government $200,000, the estimated proceeds of the illegal sales.
He also faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000 when he's sentenced on Feb. 7.
