Former Gov. Rockefeller insiders to share stories

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Former members of Nelson Rockefeller's inner circle during his 15 years as governor of New York are gathering to share stories about the man whose legacy includes establishing one of the nation's largest public university systems.

Author and former Rockefeller speechwriter Joseph Persico is among the speakers for Thursday afternoon's gathering in Albany to publicize the publication of a new book on the former governor and vice president, "Oreos and Dubonnet."

The title is a reference to the cookies and French aperitif Rockefeller asked to have waiting for him in his hotel room at every campaign stop.

The book is written by longtime Rockefeller personal aide Joseph Boyd Jr. of Colchester, Vt., and Charles Holcomb, a public relations executive from Long Island who covered the Rockefeller administration as a reporter.
