HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. - A Hoosick Falls High School sophomore got the surprise of a life time during a routine school assembly Monday morning.
Elizabeth Contessa thought she was just going to a school assembly to learn more about studying abroad on Monday, however received a $60,000 college scholarship to cover her tuition, room and board, and book costs.
Elizabeth's name was picked from thousands of entrants in the first ever EF Educational Tours college tuition giveaway. She is studying abroad in the spring with the EF Educational Tours and was automatically entered in the drawing.
The money can now be used toward any college of her choice.
Her parents were just as surprised to hear the news. Elizabeth is one of five children in the family and her parents say this scholarship makes a huge difference in their 15-year-old daughter's future.
Elizabeth says she is thinking about attending an art school.
