Book on abused dog's journey to a loving home raises money for Schoharie County Animal Shelter

COLONIE, N.Y. - The animal shelter of Schoharie Valley was severely damaged by Tropical Storm Irene during its construction phase.

In an effort to raise funds for the shelter, Cynthia West and Meg Argo Anderson wrote and illustrated a children's book about a little Dachshund, 'Lily,' that was found in a beer box, taped shut, on a Schoharie County road.

The book, 'Lily in the Box,' talks of Lily's journey to happiness in her 'forever-home.'

A book-signing was held Saturday at 3:00 p.m., at the Little Book House in Stuyvesant Plaza, with Lily and her new owner, author Cynthia, in attendance.

Profits from the sale of the books will go to the building fund for the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley.
