String of suspicious fires in Prattsville

Posted: Updated:
PRATTSVILLE, N.Y. -- Fire officials in Prattsville are investigating a string of suspicious fires that have occurred over the last six months; the latest one happening over the weekend.

Fire officials said the most recent blaze started around 3 a.m. Sunday, quickly engulfing the entire two family home on Main Street. A pile of charred debris is all that is left.

The homeowner, James Rion, tells NEWS10 he was outraged.

Rion runs a construction company in Prattsville and has bought four homes in the town that were badly damaged by Tropical Storm Irene. Over the last several months, he said he has worked with volunteers to rebuild them. This one, Rion told NEWS10 was almost done.

Investigators said the first suspicious blaze started in April and completely destroyed a trailer home, which has since been replaced. The second fire happened at an apartment building, which is now nothing more than trash.

The 1st Assistant Fire Chief Jim Dymond said it's still unclear if they're connected but if they are whomever is behind it is becoming more brazen, which leaves him concerned.

Investigators said they don't have any leads but are asking anyone with information to contact police.
