RENSSELAER, N.Y. - Rensselaer Police say two drivers were both drunk behind the wheel when their vehicles collided on a Rensselaer street early Sunday morning.
Police say the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of 3rd Street and John Street in the City of Rensselaer.
Officers say a 21-year-old Jaide Rios of Myrtle Ave. Albany and 43-year-old James Macarelli, of Lape Road in Rensselaer, were driving in opposite directions when their cars collided.
Police say the woman had a blood-alcohol content of 0.20 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent. She was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. Both sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Rios was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with a blood alcohol concentration above .08%, and Aggravated Driving While intoxicated for a B.A.C. of .20%, police say.
Macarelli was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Police say his B.A.C. is unavailable at this time.
