NY power project to shut fishing access on Mohawk

Posted:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The New York Power Authority says it will shut down public fishing access at a spot on the eastern Mohawk River for repair work.

The river near the authority's Crescent plant, a small hydroelectric facility on the border of Albany and Saratoga counties, will be closed to fishing beginning Monday. An underwater electrical cable was damaged last year during Tropical Storm Irene.

Fishing access at the roughly 10-megawatt plant will be off limits through mid-December for safety reasons.

The work is not expected to affect normal water flows along the river.
