SCHENECTADY - Madelyn Thorne, candidate for New York State Senate in the 49th
District, introduced a tax relief initiative at the Save Our Homes Rally
Sunday.
"Save our Homes" is an initiative that calls on
the State of New York to enable local governments to reduce local taxes by
addressing four major areas.
1. Relieving local government from unfunded mandates.
2. Establishing an equitable system of distributing State aid.
3. Providing medicaid relief.
4. Increasing school aid.
"Save Our Homes" outlines a process of evaluating
and addressing the cost burdens imposed on local governments by the State of
New York.
The event was held at the Schenectady Main Library on the corner of Clinton
and Liberty Streets.
