9-year-old girl in serious condition after car accident in Hudson Falls

HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. - The Hudson Falls Police Department reports that a 9-year-old girl is in serious condition at Albany Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a local restaurant on Main Street in Hudson Falls.

On Saturday around 3:10 p.m., a vehicle that was driven by 28-year-old Yan Li Chen of Hudson Falls, was pulling into a parking spot and the young girl, whose name is not being released, ran out from behind a parked car and into Chen's vehicle.

The collision caused serious injuries to the girl, who was flown to Albany Medical Center by Med Flight.

The girl suffered internal injuries, a broken leg, numerous lacerations and contusions. She was admitted in critical condition. As of 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, her condition was downgraded to serious.

The investigation is continuing.

Fort Edward Rescue Squad responded and transported the child to Wilton Fire Station where she was turned over to Med. Flight.
