SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Ellis Hospital in Schenectady is breaking ground on a new Emergency Room on Friday afternoon.
Ellis Hospital says they have more than 85,000 ER visits every year and the new state-of-the-art ER will double the size of the current ER and help better meet the needs of the community. The Ellis ER will be the single ER in the City of Schenectady.
They say the new ER will improve patient flow, accommodate more ambulances, and support on-going efforts to minimize wait times.
A new two-story parking garage will also be built.
New rooms in the ER will enhance privacy for patients and families with 60 new private treatment rooms up from 47 rooms, including kid friendly rooms, flat screen TVs in every room, and all rooms fully equipped for cardiac monitoring.
