CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - A local taxpayer from Clifton Park says it hurts to pay taxes, and he is not making it easy for the Shenendehowa School District to collect his money.
Mike Styles paid his $17,000 tax bill all in one dollar bills on Wednesday. Styles owns three properties within the district.
Styles does this every year to protest how high school taxes are, and taxes in general. He says handing over taxes in singles really shows how much money it truly is.
Breaking down his payment, it equals $48 per day and $2 every hour for him to live in the district.
"Taxes are too high and we can't afford it. People are losing their homes. There's no work," Styles says. "They're raising taxes. You can't pay your taxes, you can't pay your bills, if you can't make money."
Styles says he hopes more people get involved and start a movement to lower taxes.
