EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. - The East Greenbush Police Department says a man was arrested for felony DWI among other charges at his home after allegedly striking another car and leaving the scene.
Police say 46-year-old Nicholas Damopoulos, of 1549 Columbia Turnpike, was observed pulling into his driveway in the same vehicle that was observed striking another car at Columbia Plaza a short time earlier.
Police talked with Damopoulos on his front lawn and say he appeared to be intoxicated. He refused a field sobriety test or to submit a breath sample and has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Refusal to Take a Breat Test, Driving While Intoxicated, and Felony DWI for having previously been convicted of DWI. He has been remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
