Plans for Bow-Tie Cinemas (Bonacio Construction)
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Crews broke ground at the site of a new movie theater being built in downtown Saratoga Springs on Tuesday morning.
The plan for the new Bow-Tie Cinemas was presented by local developer Sonny Bonacio at the site of the theater, 19 Railroad Place, just off Broadway.
The 11-screen, $18 million theater is expected to be a major draw for visitors, offering new movies as well as classics.
The City of Saratoga Springs has not had a movie theater since the 1970's when the community theater closed its doors.
The last time you could buy a movie ticket in Saratoga Springs, your choices were The Muppet Movie, Rocky II, and Apocalypse Now.
Bow-Tie Cinemas is expected to open in spring 2013.
