ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings presented the city's proposed 2013 budget to members of the Common Council during a press event Monday morning.
The presentation, held in the Mayor's Conference Room in Albany City Hall, laid out the mayor's proposed $170 million budget for 2013.
The budget contains no layoffs, however no raises either; no increase to property tax levy however would increase the residential tax rate by approximately 3%. Also, there would be a decrease of commercial properties by about 1.5%.
The mayor's budget would also keep funding for many youth development programs in the city, such as SNUG to help prevent gun violence.
About 82% of the budget is allocated toward personnel costs and operating services.
The mayor made it clear over the past three years, the city has made a lot of difficult decisions and cuts, but the city is finally seeing the benefits of those cuts.
