SCHENECTADY - Mayor McCarthy kicked off Schenectady's monthly open house Sunday, as part of the Key to the City Program, which provides incentives for new home buyers to settle in the town.
During the event he outlined the city's plan for rehabilitating properties and unveiled a list of recently acquired properties.
McCarthy says his goal is to get people with the intent of renovating and occupying to move into these homes.
Schenectady has had issues with absentee land lords in the past, and they hope to eradicate that by putting permanent home owners in the city, according to the mayor.
The ongoing program is the result of a partnership between the city and Key Bank.
