SLINGERLANDS, N.Y. - Sunday, September 30th, Slingerlands celebrated the listing of the  'Slingerlands Historic District' to the National Register of Historic Places.

The new historic district extends from Couse Lane to Helderberg Parkway, along New Scotland Road.

It also includes Mullens Road and Bridge Street, which is contiguous to the Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail.

The district features houses built in the Federal, Greek Revival, Victorian, Bungalow and Colonial Revival styles over a period of more than 150 years, beginning in about 1790 when John Albert Slingerland settled along the plank road from Albany to the Helderbergs.
