Hadley DWI accident leaves two injured and refusing medical attention

HADLEY, N.Y. - On September 29th at approximately 5:27 p.m., the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office responded to a one-car, physical injury motor vehicle accident on Stony Creek Road in the Town of Hadley.

Investigation into the cause of the collision resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Curtis Lee Shippee of Lake Luzerne, New York.

Mr. Shippee was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated BAC .18% or higher, Driving While Intoxicated BAC .08% or higher, and Driving While Intoxicated, all vehicle and traffic misdemeanors, traffic tickets for speed not reasonable for weather conditions, unsafe tires, operating a motor vehicle with an open container of alcoholic beverage, and an uninspected motor vehicle ticket.

It is alleged that Curtis Shippee, operating a 2003 Ford, was traveling too fast for weather conditions when he lost control of the vehicle and went off of the roadway, striking a telephone pole, overturning and coming to rest striking a tree.

Mr. Shippee suffered only minor injuries to his hand, and refused medical attention.

The passenger of the vehicle, Michael H. Wood, 38-years-old, of Hadley, New York, is alleged to have suffered a minor concussion and several lacerations to his facial area.

Mr. Wood also refused medical attention.

Hadley-Luzerne Fire Department and EMS assisted.
