LATHAM, N.Y. - The 24th annual 'Stand-Down for Homeless Veterans' was held today, September 29th, at the Colonie Elks Lodge in Latham.
Veterans either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, were provided with free medical exams (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, glucose and cholesterol testing), PSA testing, eye exams, dental check-ups, flu shots, HIV screening and counseling, legal counseling, job placement and shelter.
This assistance was made possible by the VA Hospital, Seton Health, Albany Medical Center, St. Peter's Hospital, Catholic Charities and over forty federal, state and local agencies as well as support groups.
