Vehicle collides with police car in Troy

TROY, N.Y. - On Friday afternoon a marked Troy Police car collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Ferry Street and Fifth Avenue in Troy.

Troy Police Captain John Cooney said the accident happened around 1:45 p.m. when Officer Charles Rockwell was traveling south on Fifth Avenue with siren and lights activated, and upon entering the intersection was struck by the second vehicle driven by 70-year-old Patrick Pastore which was traveling east on Ferry Street. The Troy Police vehicle then struck the porch at 1496 Fifth Avenue and came to rest.

A third vehicle, a Troy Housing authority utility truck, also sustained minor damage.

Officer Rockwell was transported to Samaritan Hospital for precautionary measures. Pastore was transported to Albany Med with injuries which appear non-life threatening.

The investigation is ongoing. No tickets have been issued at this time.
