TROY, N.Y. - On Friday afternoon a marked Troy Police car collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Ferry Street
and Fifth
Avenue in Troy.
Troy Police Captain John Cooney said the accident happened around 1:45 p.m. when Officer Charles Rockwell was traveling south on Fifth
Avenue with siren and lights activated, and upon
entering the intersection was struck by the second vehicle driven by 70-year-old Patrick Pastore which was traveling
east on Ferry
Street. The Troy Police vehicle then struck the porch at 1496 Fifth Avenue
and came to rest.
A third vehicle, a Troy Housing authority utility truck, also
sustained minor damage.
Officer Rockwell was transported to
Samaritan
Hospital for precautionary
measures. Pastore was transported to Albany Med with injuries which appear
non-life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing. No tickets have been
issued at this time.
