SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Hundreds of women gathered for Women's Night Out on Thursday night in support of Ellis Medicine's Bellevue Women's Center.
The keynote speaker this year was E Network star Giuliana Rancic.
Rancic shared with guests what she has learned in what she called the "worst and best year of her life" after battling breast cancer and becoming a new mom.
NEWS10's Lydia Kulbida was also an emcee for the event, which included a big announcement about local women's health: The Neil and Jane Golub Breast and Heart Health Center at Bellevue Hospital in Niskayuna will use the one-stop-shopping concept to raise awareness of women and heart disease.
Starting in January, when women come in for their yearly mammogram, they will also undergo a comprehensive cardiac screening.
Most women don't know that heart disease is their number one killer, or that women's symptoms differ from men's, so education will be a big part to raise women's awareness through Bellevue.
