BENNINGTON, Vt. - Bennington
Police are continuing an investigation into the attempted armed robbery from
Willy's Variety store on Wednesday evening.
Police say around 6:30 p.m. the lone male suspect is seen entering the store on surveillance footage wearing a black "ski mask," a front zippered hoodie with the hood on his
head, and a longer black shirt that extends below the bottom of the hoodie.
The suspect enters the store and walks straight to the counter, withdraws a
handgun. There is a conversation between the employee and suspect before he
leaves the store.
The police were called as the suspect flees onto Gage Street in a
easterly direction and turns onto Maple Street. At some point on Maple Street the
suspect removes his hoodie and enters a mini-van.
Detective
Officer John Behan is interested in talking with anyone with information,
especially a young couple who were walking away from the store as the suspect
entered, and a male on Maple
Street.
Anyone with information is asked
to call (802) 442-1030.
