
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. - A black bear sat perched in a tree near Ballston Spa High School for the majority of Wednesday night, police believe.
However, police in Ballston Spa tell NEWS10 the bear was no longer in the tree, and no where to be found on Thursday morning.
The bear was seen in the tree on Thomas Avenue, between Ballston Avenue and Martin Avenue.
According to Town Supervisor Patty Southworth the bear was still in the tree at 8 p.m. and ENCON officers who had been monitoring the bear had gone home for the day, expecting the bear to move on during the night.
The Ballston Spa High School was holding a football competition Wednesday night, and officials expected the bear to leave once the commotion calmed down.
Residents are to be advised the bear is likely still in the area and to be alert. Residents are asked to make sure their garbage cans are covered, bird feeders are put away, ect.
