SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Police say a police cruiser and car collided on Route 9 in Saratoga Springs after a passenger grabbed the car's steering wheel and pulled into the officer's path.
Saratoga Springs police say the officer was able to avoid a head-on crash, there was only minor damage and nobody was hurt.
They say the wreck happened just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Route 9 near Kaydeross Ave West following an argument in the car.
Authorities say the passenger, 45-year-old Aurelio Bidinost of Ballston Spa, is being held. He was expected to be charged later in the day.
Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy says Bidinost was due to be sentenced next month to 3 years in prison after being convicted in July of assault and vehicular assault for a drunk driving accident that seriously injured another motorist.
