Troy traffic alert for Congress St and Pawling Ave

Posted:

TROY, N.Y. – The City of Troy's Department of Public Utilities will be conducting critical infrastructure work Tuesday night near the intersection of Congress Street and Pawling Avenue, beginning at approximately 7 p.m.

Crews will tie in a new 20-inch water main, necessitating the shut-down of the existing water line. In order to limit the disruption of traffic, work will be conducted overnight and is expected to conclude early Wednesday morning.

Tuesday night's work will result in a detour for traffic in the area east of Pawling Avenue. All eastbound traffic will be sent from Congress Street to 15th Street to Tibbits Avenue, right onto Tibbits Avenue to Orchard Avenue, then a right on Orchard Avenue to Brunswick Road. Westbound traffic will be sent in the reverse direction. Traffic will be controlled by both signage and flaggers. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times throughout the installation of the new water line.

Approximately 50 residents in the area of Brunswick Avenue will be without water service overnight while the new water line is installed.

Residents who experience continued water service interruption or prolonged issues after work is completed Wednesday morning should call (518) 237-0611.
