LATHAM, N.Y. - Hundreds of people took advantage of an opportunity offered by State Police to get an inside look at the new Troop G headquarters in Latham Tuesday.
The open house began with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. and afterwards state troopers led the guided tours of the new facility, which opened in August, to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Troopers had some equipment on display and gave live demonstrations from specialized units such as aviation and scuba units within the state police.
The new headquarters, located on 42 acres of land at 760 Troy-Schenectady Road, are home to administrative, investigative, training and support facilities for Troop G.
The 9,000-square-foot building took three years to construct and offers troopers easier access to the region they cover.
Troopers say a second tour is to be scheduled for a later date.
