TROY, N.Y. - A cooking accident in Troy displaced seven people after a fire late Monday afternoon.
The call came in around 4:30 p.m. for a fire in a third-floor apartment on 2268 Old Sixth Avenue.
The Assistant Fire Chief says someone left oil heating up on the stove, and the fire quickly spread to the cabinets. Cooking fires are the second most common type of fire.
The damage was contained to the third floor and no one was injured, but the red cross is helping the family who lived there.
