TROY, N.Y. - The Troy Police Department reports that a woman stabbed her daughter late Sunday night when the girl would not do the dishes.
The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. at the family's Third Street home in Troy. According to the police report, the victim got into a verbal argument with their mother, Caroline Mingo, when she wanted her daughter to do the dishes.
Police say the argument turned physical when Mingo spit in the girl's face, took a red-handled kitchen knife and threatened her with it. As the daughter walked out of the room, that is when Mingo stabbed the girl in the back with the knife.
The daughter, whose name or age has not been released, then left the house and went to Troy Fire Department Engine 6, and was later transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
Mingo was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd-degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th-degree and Menacing 2nd-degree.
According to the police report, Mingo has a history of alcohol abuse.
