3 black bears struck by vehicles in Saratoga County

MILTON, N.Y. - Three black bears were struck by vehicles and killed Sunday night in Saratoga County, the Sheriff's Office reports.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says the first accident occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday on Galway Road, off of Middleline Road in the Town of Milton. A vehicle driven by 18-year-old David Hersh, of Ballston Spa, was traveling westbound when a black bear entered the road causing the accident. The Sheriff's Office says no personal injury was reported, but the black bear did not survive the collision.

Later on Sunday night, around 11:23 p.m., two other black bears were struck by a vehicle on Northline Road, near Middleline Road as well. The vehicle was not damage and the driver not injured, but both bears in this case were killed at the accident scene.

The bears were removed from the road by the Saratoga County Highway Department.
