
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - The fall Special Olympics competitions are scheduled for next month in eastern New York.
The organization that runs the games says opening ceremonies will be Oct. 19 at the Glens Falls Civic Center and the competition will be Oct. 20 at a number of venues in the area.
Athletes will compete in bocce, cross country running, cycling, equestrian events, golf, soccer and softball.
Volunteers are being sought to help out. More information is available on the organization's website.
About 900 athletes and coaches took part last year.
