TROY, N.Y. - With the help of tips from the community, police in Troy raided a home on Fifth Avenue Friday morning finding a quantity of crack and powder cocaine, three long arms and a safe containing over $100,000 in cash.
Troy Police say they have been investigating the residence on Fifth Avenue, between Hoosick and Rensselaer Streets, since late August after citizen reports. Based upon that information, the unit conducted regular surveillance in the area and narrowed the activity to the residence at 2534 Fifth Avenue. Undercover buys were made and necessary probable cause was developed, leading to the acquisition of a search warrant.
Around 6 a.m. Friday, the Troy Police Emergency Response Team raided the home, securing the second floor and its occupants.
ERT deployment was necessary due to our knowledge of one of the targets having an extensive criminal history and the potential for the presence of firearms.
Once entry was gained and the scene was secure, Troy Police SIU members, assisted by the New York State Police CNET, arrested 34-year-old Jamaine Myers.
Police secured a quantity of crack and powder cocaine, three long arms and a safe with $115,000 in cash which has been seized.
Myers is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd-degree and 4th-degree and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and has been remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
