TRAVEL ADVISORY: Twin Bridge Weekend Lane Closures
Motorists are advised that starting at 8:00 p.m. Friday the northbound bridge carrying I-87 (the Northway) over the Mohawk River will close to traffic for weekend deck replacement work. The span will reopen to traffic before the morning rush hour on Monday, September 17. During the closure, traffic will be crossed over onto the southbound bridge, which will carry one lane of traffic in each direction.
Motorists should expect significant delays on the Northway in both directions, especially from mid-morning through the late afternoon on Saturday and Sunday. Travelers are strongly encouraged to consider using alternate routes to cross the Mohawk River during these time periods. Traffic is also expected to be heavier than usual on Route 9 throughout the weekend.
We recognize the inconvenience this bridge work creates for the traveling public and ask for continued patience as we work to construct a new, safer bridge deck.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver's license.
