Asian clams found in 4 new areas of Lake George

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) - Invasive Asian clams have been found in four new areas of Lake George in the Adirondacks.

The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that an ongoing shoreline survey by the Lake George Asian Clam Task Force led to the discoveries of the four new sites.

Asian clams create water quality problems when they take hold in a body of water. The invasive species was first discovered in the popular lake several years ago.

The newspaper reports that the invasive clams were found in Log Bay in the town of Bolton, south of the hamlet of Hague, near Paulist Fathers on the east shore and near the Golden Sands Resort in Diamond Point.
