TROY, N.Y. - The
Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office says four teens have been arrested in connection with nearly a dozen daytime, residential burglaries in Rensselaer County.
The four were arrested Wednesday evening after an extensive investigation conducted jointly by
the Sheriff's Office and the State Police in Brunswick as well as the
Bennington, Vt. Police department.
18-year-old James Large of
Valley Falls, 17-year-old Christian Olsen of Johnsonville, 17-year-old Ethan Dearstyne of Valley Falls, and 18-year-old John Toomajin of Brunswick have all been charged with Burglary 2nd-degree.
The charges stem from an alleged rash of break-ins which occurred, primarily, in the Town of
Pittstown, in Rensselaer County, but also extended as far as Bennington, Vt, in which at least ten homes were burglarized mostly of high-end jewelry. The Sheriff's Office says the suspects then sold the jewelry at local pawn shops.
The total
proceeds are estimated to be in excess of $100,000.00, some of which was
recovered by the investigators.
All four have been remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of bail.
